JSK Plants Trees in Celebration of Arbor Day
On Thursday, May 4, 2023, students and teachers at JSK High School celebrated Arbor Day by planting trees outside of the school building. With shovels and buckets in hand, the group worked together to dig holes and find the perfect spot for each tree.
This special day is all about recognizing the vital role that trees play in creating a greener, more sustainable future for all. The students learned about the importance of trees and how they contribute to a healthy ecosystem. They put their knowledge into action by working together to plant their own trees outside of the school building.
Mr. Cromartie, also known as Mr. C, guided the students in the planting process and showed them how to properly plant trees using a hole digger, spade shovel, and their hands. His expertise and guidance were invaluable to the success of the event.
Each student named their own tree, adding a personal touch to the event. Some tree names were “Movin On Up”, “Toothless”, “Divine”, and “Kayden”. The students worked collaboratively to help each other find the best spots for their trees, dig holes to the dimensions of the tree roots, and ready the soil. There was even the discovery of some other friends – pill bugs and worms. The atmosphere was one of excitement and teamwork.
Once the trees were planted, the students watered them and took pictures to commemorate the event. The entire group then gathered for a group photo, celebrating their hard work and dedication to a greener environment.
The tree-planting activity was a huge success, with students and teachers coming together to make a positive impact on the environment. By planting trees, they not only beautified the school grounds but also contributed to the overall health of the planet. The event served as a reminder of the importance that each person plays in preserving the environment and the role that each individual plays in making a difference.
