Have you ever wondered why we wear pink in October? Well, it’s to honor the approximately 30% of women who have breast cancer. While women are typically the victims of it, men can also be diagnosed with breast cancer but it is less common.
Overall, the average risk that a woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime is 13% or 1 in 8 women. Breast cancer is very prevalent here in America and many women are affected.
That’s why on October 11th, Judith S. Kaye High School in Queens came together to wear pink to support and provide awareness for those women, men, and non-binary people who fight or fought against breast cancer.
