The Judith S. Kaye and Co-op Tech students enjoyed watching the New York Mets defeat the Chicago Cubs 7-6 at Citi Field on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 1 pm.
The Mets started off pitching, but The Cubs scored one run in the second inning. The Mets were struggling to get on the bases. The Cubs took a big lead in the fifth inning, leaving the Mets on zero.
The Cubs scored 3 runs, leading 4-0. In the bottom of the inning, the Mets scored two runs, with the score being 4-2 Cubs. In the 6th inning, the Mets made a huge comeback, leaving the game tied 5-5. Both teams didn’t score until they got two extra innings. In inning 11th, the score remained 5-5. Then, the Cubs ended up scoring 1 run, but the Mets were able to get the Cubs 3 strikes. Which resulted in the Cubs being out.
The crowd loudly chanted “Let’s Go Mets,” repeatedly showing their team spirit. Many JSK students and Co-op tech students left the baseball stadium, but they missed out on the best part, which had all the Mets fans, including myself, screaming.
The Mets scored two runs to win the game because of Fransisco Lindor. Fransisco swung and hit the ball far enough for two runners to score, taking the lead and winning the game, 7-6.
Fransisco mentioned after he hit a walk-off double: “I’m tired but happy I was able to contribute to the team today.” Fransisco had the flu, which wasn’t easy to handle while playing, but they managed to help the Mets win against the Cubs.
Some JSK students stayed the whole game, and they enjoyed the crazy comeback that happened at the end. I was one of the students who stayed to watch this big comeback because I am a big Mets fan and was astounded that I got to see it.
I went to get a drink at half-time, went down the stairs to the food booth, and got a reusable cup for 10 dollars. I didn’t want to spend 10 dollars on a cup until the Mets made a comeback at the end of the game; I yelled, “ This 10-dollar cup was so worth its price”.
Denny Lira about his game experience, and he told me, “ It was my first time going to a baseball game. There were a lot of emotions going to Citi Field. At first, I didn’t understand the game until the end. But I enjoyed the game. It was a great experience.” and I would come back.

During the game, Fransisco Lindor wasn’t feeling good. He said he had flu-like symptoms and didn’t have a lot of fluid in his body, but he still pushed through and played. He also said he received some IV fluids and took nausea medicine to combat a virus that his wife, daughter, and teammate Joey Wendle recently endured. At the end of the day, the Mets had a rough start at the beginning of the game but ended up winning with the final score, 7-6. Fransisco Lindor ended the game with the final winning shot.
Some students seemed excited, and others not so much. For example, Carlos, a student at JSK High School, said, “ I was excited to see my favorite team play, and they won, and I bought a hat and a cup for $10$.” Another student at JSK stated, “That was my first time at a baseball game. I was intrigued, but I wasn’t excited.”
The weather was wonderful that day, but it felt windy since they were at the top of the stadium. Some students went to get food from the stadium, while others just ate the snack bag their school provided. Some students at JSK didn’t enjoy the game and didn’t find it interesting, so they left an hour into it. Other students, on the other hand, stayed until the very end.
Some students stayed until the end because they enjoyed the game; some were big Mets fans. For example, Carlos, a huge Mets fan from JSK High School, stated, “I knew the Mets was gonna make a major comeback at the end.” Filled with enthusiasm and joy.

This was my first time at a Mets Vs Cubs baseball game on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 1 pm. My intake on the game was very interesting because I didn’t know much about baseball and had difficulty understanding it. But on the trip, I went with my school, Judith S Kaye High School. It was amusing to go to Citi Field, where the game occurred. Based on my classmates and teachers’ sportswear. They were big “Go Mets” fans.
ESPN states on the game that “ Francisco Lindor delivered a pair of two-run doubles off the bench, rallying the New York Mets past the Chicago Cubs 7-6 in 11 innings Thursday for a split of their four-game series. Right fielder Starling Marte made two rocket throws in extra innings, cutting down Cubs runners at the plate to end the 10th and 11th. Brandon Nimmo had two RBI for the Mets, who overcame a 4-0 deficit to salvage a 3-4 homestand.
“It was exciting,” Marte said through an interpreter. “Whenever we make plays like that, it boosts us offensively.”
This was a very dynamic switch for the Mets. SNY Mets stated on Twitter, “After viewing all relevant angles, the Replay Official determined that no Home Plate Collision Rule violation occurred. The catcher’s initial setup was legal, and he moved into the lane in reaction to the trajectory of the incoming throw. The call is confirmed, as it is not a violation. Additionally, the Replay Official could not definitively determine that the runner contacted home plate before the catcher applied the tag. The call stands, and the runner is out.
It was a huge comeback from a major setback. This was my first baseball game. Even though the Mets usually lose, they did very well in this game, and the excitement within the crowd made the game better.
